Alpine climbing

Majestic limestone peaks tower over each of the Alpine valleys in the Kranjska Gora region. One of the most famous, the North Face of Triglav, is just one of several mountain faces which served as the training ground for all famous SloveneSlovene mountaineers who have gone on to conquer the Himalayas or other famous peaks around the world. Your ascent will be much safer with the help of an experienced mountain guide.

At the confluence of the Pisnica and the Sava rivers in Kranjska Gora, a new golf course is being built. So far only three holes, a driving range and a putting green are open, but a further nine holes are planned in due course.

The Zgornjesavska valley offers you genuine contact with nature. The pleasant temperatures and the fresh mountain air guarantee pleasure at discovering the countless sights of the valley. Hiking is one of the most popular forms of enjoying an active holiday. There are enough trails for everyone, ranging from the easiest recreational strolls to the demanding Alpine tours which require experience, suitable mountaineering or climbing equipment and the assistance of a mountain guide. There are instructors available and walking sticks to be rented for the popular version of a simple walk – the Nordic walk.

A faster and more active way of enjoying the charms of Kranjska Gora and its surrounding is by bike. You can decide on a leisurely pedalling or on more demanding trips into the heart of the Alpine valleys. For this reason, we have prepared a map of cycling trips in the Zgornjesavska valley, which shows over 150 kilometres of cycling tracks. The map illustrates many well-worth seeing sights and provides the most thorough and perhaps the most attractive way of getting to know this particular part of Slovenia. The cycling map can be obtained from all tourist information offices of Kranjska Gora, Mojstrana and Rateče. You can sweat and get a suntan on the steep slopes of the Karavanke mountain range. The cycling trail of the three countries starting on the three-country border with Austria and Italy allows you to pass through the valley of Radovna and go for a quick visit of Bled. You can leave the well-kept cycling trails and explore numerous rough terrain routes. The genuine cyclers will not let the ascent of the highest Slovene mountain pass, the 1611 metres high Vršič, escape them.

Experience fun at the gaming and entertainment centre and casino of Kranjska Gora. You can spend just a few cents and experience much more than that. There is a multitude of slot machines and gaming tables available. In addition to entertainment, the casinos offer their guests gourmet cuisine and animation. Relax while gaming and watch a dance show or famous musicians perform or you can even go dancing.
